In the fall of 2015, Apple launched the News app as part of iOS 9. It has been deployed to most iPhone and iPad users, and according to Apple, about 40 million of them use it.

This publishing platform aims to provide iOS users with personalized news and content, while combining the look of the original brand with Apple’s elegant design. Obviously, the monetization mechanism is Apple’s proprietary iAd, which until now has been used mainly by iOS app developers to monetize apps.

Apple quietly completed the beta period and opened the doors to all publishers. So now the Apple News Editor’s platform is available to everyone. At least you, it’s free.

Google did this with YouTube, Facebook recently introduced Instant Articles, and Amazon brought its power to the book market in the digital world through e-books and self-publishing. So it’s no surprise that Apple wants to log into the shopping cart and keep the contents close to the company’s branded box like everyone else in the area.

However, some upscale publishers, pioneers of the format and platforms of Apple News did not hesitate to be disappointed with the system. Some publishers also reported low iAd on News occupancy.

Apple News for Publishers – a step-by-step guide

  1. Sign up
  2. Download the logo.

The size of the logo should be as follows:

Total

The logo can only contain text (without images).
The file type should be PNG.
The logo should be horizontal and placed in one line, without folded text.
The area around the text should be trimmed or trimmed to remove excess space (the filling is applied automatically).
Color and transparency

Use color.
Use a transparent background (without pouring) – some views use a mask.
The text in front of the color should be transparent.
The underlined text should be transparent (without pouring color).
Cut

Height: at least 256 pixels
Width: At least 256 pixels; A maximum of 2560 pixels (there is some scaling in logos with maximum width)
Side ratio: max 10: 1
File size: no more than 2MB.
Limits

Don’t include anything in your logo:

Copyright or trademark symbols
Photos
Text or promotion URL
White text against transparency
Examples of logo specification implementation

Scale your logo if necessary.

Adjust your logo to the recommended width if necessary.

Place the logo next to the text, not above or below it.

Logo signs should be transparent.

If possible, shorten or shorten the long text of the logo.

What to avoid

Don’t use a solid background color. In some views, your logo is masked, and the solid background does not give good results.

Avoid large logos that are hard to read when smaller.

Avoid folded logos on top of each other, which can be difficult to read in a rolled-up form.

Do not use colored symbols or shapes in logo markers. Text and shapes next to other elements or colors should be transparent.

Avoid potting the color of the stressed text. Painted contour does not give good results when applying the mask. The underlined text should be transparent.
